Winter vegetables are not just for eating! See how to create your very own lovely winter vegetable and floral arrangement.

Décor from the garden! Sometimes a beautiful flower arrangement is right in your back yard or at your local farmers’ market. On my recent trip to the Pacific Palisades Farmers’ Market, the colors of the flowers and vegetables were so brilliant on their own that I decided to combine them. When I looked into my basket of fruits, vegetables and flowers, I knew I HAD to create this winter vegetable, floral, garden basket. The cabbage is the heart of the arrangement. They offer boldness and texture where the parsley and the dill will act as a light and airy filler. I brought in the ranunculus and carrots for a splash of orange. Use your imagination from asparagus to broccoli to the different textures of kale; it’s all up to you!

You will need:

  • A large basket with a plastic liner
  • Arrange your flowers in containers to pull from while pre-arranging your flowers. Many times I draw a layout of where I would like to place the items. It’s easier to erase then re-arrange on the fly!
  • Oasis of various heights – Oasis is a type of foam, which you will soak in water. It will absorb the water and still secure the stem of the flowers.
  • Various colors and textures of winter vegetables and herbs
  • Assorted flowers of your preference

Culinary pleasures and entertaining with friends and family refreshes the soul, revives the spirit, and makes new memories.

Enjoy!
